In this guideline, a carer is an adult (aged 18 or over) who provides unpaid care and support to a family member, partner or friend (aged 18 or over) because of a disability, health condition, frailty, mental health problem, addiction or other health or social care need.

If consent is not granted or is unable to be granted or is only partially granted there may still be grounds to continue processing the person's information, including but not limited to it being for the purposes of providing social care, but advice should be sought from the Data Protection Officer in the Council.

If the client wishes to withhold specific pieces of information, and or wants to withhold information from specific people or agencies, then the system has the ability to manage this and further guidance can be obtained from your system support team.
