Please be aware that in line with other local authorities we have experienced a significant increase in the number of DoLS requests received following the Supreme Court Cheshire West Judgement in 2014.

This means that at times we may need to prioritise our responses depending on the person's circumstances and any specific individual concerns.

Relevant factor may include the level of objection as well as the nature and impact of any restrictions in place.

If you have identified a relevant family member, friend or potential representative, they can expect to be contacted in due course. Please can you be sure to discuss the DoLS Authorisation request with them. Please let us know of any relevant changes or if DoLS is no longer required. • The least restrictive possible to ensure that their needs are met.
